Southwest Wisconsin Cabins

Primarily a rural area, outdoor activities and sports are the main attraction in southwestern Wisconsin. The climate provides sufficient snowfall for winter pursuits, and summertime sees dry, pleasant weather for hiking in the woods and fishing on the waterways.
  • Geography

    • Bordered by the Mississippi River on its western edge, southwestern Wisconsin is a region of rolling hills and rural beauty. Easily accessible from major cities, the area is less than two hours from Milwaukee and three hours from Chicago, making it ideal for weekend getaways.

    Amenities

    • Relax in the large outdoor hot tub or cozy up next to the fireplace at The Pines, a two-bedroom cabin nestled among the trees in the secluded countryside just outside Ferryville. The Cabins at Whispering Ridge near Prairie du Chien each feature three bedrooms, a wrap-around porch and a hot tub. At Great River Resort in the Genoa area, inclement weather won't ruin your visit, because the cabins are equipped with flat-screen Direct TV and DVD players.

    Activities

    • In the wintertime, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on the trails that crisscross the property at both The Pines and The Cabins at Whispering Ridge. Great River Resort is close to a fish hatchery, beach and historical park. Other nearby activities include cycling, hunting, fishing and boating.
