The Suzuki TL 1000 R is essentially a race version of the TL 1000 S street bike. Design Pics/Valueline/Getty Images The Suzuki TL1000R is a V-twin sport bike produced through 1998 to 2003. Similar to the Suzuki TL1000S, sharing the same engine and similar chassis; however, the TL1000R has a revised chassis and steering components to correct issues present in the TL 1000S. The TL 1000R also had a brief history of racing in the World Superbike circuit.

The TL 1000R is powered by a 996-cubic centimeter, cc, four-stroke, V-twin engine. The engine is water cooled, uses fuel injection and features dual-overhead camshafts, DOHC. The TL 1000R's engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and power is transferred to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The front forks are inverted telescopic units with adjustable preload, rebound and compression damping. The rear suspension is a rotary damping unit with adjustable preload, rebound and compression damping.
The TL 1000R's front brakes are two 320-mm disc units and the rear brake is a 220-mm disc unit. The 17-inch front rim has a 120/70-R17 tire fitted, whereas the 17-inch rear rim has a 190/50-R17 tire fitted.
