What Is Alignment in Publisher?

According to Microsoft, alignment in Publisher lets you arrange graphics, text and basic shapes so they line up with margins, grids or rulers. You can also set graphics, text and objects in relation to other graphics, objects and text.
  • Text Alignment

    • Adjusting text in Publisher is done within a text box. Text can be positioned to the left, right, center or justified within the margins in an area. If you wanted to center text in a two-inch text box with quarter-inch margins, you would select the text, then click the "Home" tab and click the align center button in the "Paragraph" menu. This places your text in the middle of the text box between the margins.

    Object Alignment

    • You may also want to align graphics with your text or other graphics. You can position objects in Publisher so they are lined up with the top, left, right, center, middle or bottom of a page. To do so, select the objects, click the "Format" tab, then click "Align" in the "Arrange" menu and select how you want the computer to align the objects.

    Manual Alignment

    • For manual alignment, turn on non-printing guides and gridlines to help position objects on a page. Click the "View" tab and click the check-boxes for "Boundaries" and "Guides" in the "Show" grouping.
