What Is the Meaning of Aveo?

GM-Daewoo introduced the Aveo, based on its platform called T200, at the 2003 Chicago Auto Show. By 2006, this stylish subcompact had become the best seller in its category.
  • Kalos

    • GM-Daewoo first sold the T200 in South Korea as the Daewoo Kalos. Kalos means "beautiful" in Greek and is a common girl's name.

    Gentra

    • In 2005, the Kalos it was renamed the Daewoo Gentra. "Gentra" was based on the idea of the English Gentry fused with the word "transportation." Daewoo's advertising for the car used the phrase, "Are you gentle?"

    Aveo

    • In America,GM-Daewoo introduced the T200 as the Aveo. Aveo is a Latin verb, meaning " I hail'" or "I am well,'' based on the interjection ":Ave" meaning "Hail" as in "Ave Maria." The Pontiac version of the Aveo was called the Wave.
